Privacy policy.

Who we are

IRM Ventures LLC runs Pickleball Game. We decide how your personal information is used. Personal information is anything that says something about you, such as your email or your match history.

This policy covers our website, the game, accounts, leaderboards and advertising. It also covers online play and Pro, once they open. Our rules for using them are in the Terms of Use.

Questions about privacy: privacy@pickleballgame.app.

What we collect

You can visit the site and play without an account. Most of the items below exist only if you create an account or use that feature. A guest gets a random player ID, with no name or email.

We do not collect your birth date, precise location, contacts, camera or microphone. The game has no chat. We do not ask for sensitive information such as health or religion.

Your display name is public. Do not use your real name or personal details in it.

Why we use it

Under EU and UK law we need a legal basis for each use. “Legitimate interests” means a real need of ours, such as fair play, that we weigh against your rights.

We send no marketing email. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.

Automated checks re-play your match to confirm the score, rate it, and flag signs of cheating and banned words. Once online booking opens, an AI model checks ad artwork against our ad rules: it can approve or turn down an image, and anything it cannot decide waits for a person. A person reviews the case before we ban or restrict an account. We make no decision about you with legal or similarly significant effect by automated means alone.

You do not have to give us your information. Without an email you cannot have an account.

Who gets it

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for ads that follow you across sites. The ads in the game are fixed images from sponsors. There are no ad networks or ad trackers, and sponsors get no information about you.

Service providers (also called processors) handle information for us and only on our instructions. All of those below are in the United States.

Online play is not open yet. When it opens, the company that hosts the game server will get your IP address, display name and match data, and we will list it here.

We use your email address to run your account. Other players see only the display name you choose.

Other people see some of your information. Everyone can see the leaderboards. Players in your match see your display name and character look. Our staff and moderators see what they need for support and safety.

We also share information when the law requires it, to protect people or the game, or if the business is sold. The new owner must follow this policy.

Moving data abroad

We run Pickleball Game from the United States. Our providers may handle your information in the United States and other countries, including outside the UK and the European Economic Area.

When information leaves the UK or EEA for a country without an official adequacy decision, we use safeguards. These are the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission (with the UK addendum), or a provider certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Email us to get a copy.

How long we keep it

To delete your account, email privacy@pickleballgame.app. We hide it at once. After 7 days we erase it, delete your replay files and, if you have a subscription, cancel it. You can cancel the deletion in that time. Backups at our providers drop your data when they roll over.

Cookies and storage

We do not use cookies for ads, tracking or analytics. The game and site store a few things in your browser so they work the way you set them up:

  • Your settings, graphics level and last menu choices.
  • A guest ID, so you keep the same player ID and match history.
  • Your online display name, for when online play opens.
  • Your sign-in session, if you sign in.
  • Scores kept on this device for the local leaderboard.
  • A note that you signed up in the “Get notified” box. The address itself is saved on our server.
  • The time of your last contact message, to stop repeat sends.

Analytics set no cookies. What they store in your browser depends on where you are:

  • Everywhere else: PostHog keeps a random ID in your browser's local storage, and a short visit marker in session storage. They are not linked to your name or email. It shows us whether you come back, so we can count how many players return after a day, a week or a month. You see no pop-up. Our legal basis is legitimate interests.
  • In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: nothing is stored until you tap Allow in the pop-up. Before that, PostHog counts your visit with a random ID made on its server that resets every day. If you tap Allow, we store the random ID as above. If you tap No thanks, we store nothing but your answer. Our legal basis is your consent.

We learn where you are from the country of your connection or, if that is not available, your browser's time zone. If we cannot tell, we ask.

Your answer (Allow or No thanks) is saved on your device so we do not ask again. It is strictly necessary and holds nothing else.

Change your choice. Use “Privacy choices” in the footer of any page on the website, at any time, wherever you live. No thanks deletes the random ID from your browser. Allow starts remembering you again.

Switching analytics off completely. We honor the Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track settings in your browser. If either is on, the analytics code is not even loaded and there is no pop-up. An ad blocker has the same effect.

The storage for running the game was needed or requested by you, so we do not ask for consent for it. You can clear it in your browser settings. Your settings will reset. Cloudflare may set its own cookie or storage for its security checks. Stripe may too on its own pages, once payments open. See their policies.

Your rights

Everyone

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it.

  • How to ask: email privacy@pickleballgame.app.
  • How fast: within one month, or 45 days for California. If the law allows more time we will tell you why.
  • Proof it is you: we may reply to the email on your account to check. We ask for nothing more than we need.
  • On someone's behalf: an authorized agent can ask for you with your written permission. We may check with you.
  • Cost: free. We may refuse a request that is clearly unfounded or excessive, and we will say why.
  • Limits: we may keep what the law requires, such as tax records.

EU and UK

You also have the right to restrict our use of your information, to receive it in a portable file, and to object to uses based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect what we did before.

You can complain to us first at privacy@pickleballgame.app. We confirm receipt within 30 days and answer without undue delay. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). EU authorities are listed at edpb.europa.eu.

California

In the past 12 months we collected these kinds of information: identifiers (email, player ID, display name, IP address); customer records and commercial information (advertiser details, and Pro subscriptions once Pro is on sale); internet and device activity (device type, game version, last active, pages viewed and game activity in our analytics, ad counts); inferences (skill ratings); and account log-in details, which California treats as sensitive. We got them from you, your device and our own systems. We used them for the reasons in “Why we use it”.

We disclosed these kinds of information to the service providers in “Who gets it” to run the service. We did not sell or share personal information, including that of anyone under 16. We use account log-in details only to sign you in, so there is nothing to limit.

California residents can ask to know what we collect, correct it, delete it, and can expect equal service and prices if they use these rights. The “Everyone” list shows how to ask.

Other US states

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws have similar rights: to access, correct, delete and get a portable copy, and to opt out of sales, targeted ads and profiling. We do none of those. We do not sell sensitive personal data. We give these rights to everyone.

If we refuse a request, you can appeal by replying to our email. We answer within 45 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.

We do not track you across other sites. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of in that sense. We still honor the Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals: with either on, our analytics do not run.

Children

Accounts are for people 13 and older. The first time you sign in, we ask your age range, not your birth date. If you say you are under 13, we close the account: it is hidden at once, you are signed out, and we erase it, with the email address you used, within 7 days.

The game is not made for children under 13. We do not knowingly keep accounts or personal information of children under 13. If we learn that we hold some, we delete it. A parent or guardian can contact us at privacy@pickleballgame.app to ask.

In some EU countries the age to agree to online services alone is higher than 13, up to 16. If you are below that age where you live, you need a parent or guardian to agree for you.

Security and changes

We send data over encrypted connections. Our database rules stop one player from reading another's data. When we take payments, card details will stay with Stripe. No system is perfectly safe. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If the change matters, we tell signed-in players when they next sign in.
